DC Public Schools is committed to helping all students find success in their pathway after high school. DCPS Persists is a new program that will provide college-bound DC Public Schools graduates with a support network to help them succeed in college. Starting with the class of 2020, additional supports will be available for students as they take the next steps toward college and careers.
Nearly 80 percent of jobs in the District of Columbia require some form of postsecondary education. Our goal: raise the college graduation rate of DCPS students, and set our students on a path for success.
DCPS Persists will offer all college-bound graduates a pre-college orientation, connection to a network of DCPS graduates, and monthly information through a new alumni publication, Forever DCPS.
In addition, each year starting with the class of 2020, 750 college-bound DCPS graduates will get connected to a DCPS Persists coach to help them navigate the transition to college and find out what academic, financial and other resources are available on their college campus. Coaches will check in with students regularly throughout the first year of college and serve as an additional resource if students have questions or challenges. Meet the DCPS Persists Coaches!
Students in the Class of 2020 who are interested in learning more about DCPS Persists Coaches can check out the info sheet and contact the DCPS Persists team at dcps.persists@k12.dc.gov.
DCPS Persists is funded by the DC Public Education Fund through a generous investment from the A. James & Alice B. Clark Foundation.
